Qatar national football team : Qatar’s international football team that represents Qatar in international football and is run by the Football Association of Qatar and the AFC.

The team has done so in the Asia Cup tournament as well and became the winner once in 2019. Qatar will be the first host in the FIFA World to be held in 2022 and this will be the first time that Arab countries will host this competition for the first time.

Football began in Qatar when the Dukhan oil reserves were first discovered in 1940. And by 1948, migrant oil workers started playing the first official football match in Qatar. And in 1960 the Qatar Football Association was formed. And joined FIFA in 1970 Qatar National Football.

The Qatar national team played its first international match against hosts Bahrain in 1970 and lost that match by a clipping 1-2. In 1977 the international team played its first match for the FIFA World Cup qualifying which was set to be played in the United Arab Emirates.

Qatar’s Asian Cup was started in 1980 under the leadership of head coach Evaristo de Macedo. Qatar qualified for the tournament after finishing at the top of the easy grouping of Bangladesh and Afghanistan.


Qatar lost to Iraq in the final of the Girls’ Cup in 1984, yet Qatar was adjudged runners-up and remained Qatar’s most influential honor until 1993. Even during the 1983 and 86 World Cup qualifying, Qatar could not make it to the Asian Cup, but did qualify for the 1984 and 88 seasons. In 1990, Qatar’s national team again became runner-up in Ek Bar Girl Cub.


Made it to the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup in 2000 but was defeated by China in their quarter-final match. won the gold medal of Qatar was announced as the host of the FIFA World Cup in 2010. In the 2014 WAFF tournament, Jordan became the winner of the championship by beating Jordan by 20.

Qatar’s statement in qualifying for the World Cup in 2018 was spectacular and He had a near perfect start in the second round of the World Cup Qualifiers in the AFC which included 7 wins and only one defeat. Similarly in the 2021 FIFA Cup Cup, Qatar won all their group stages and faced the UAE with a 5–0 win and lost 2–1 in the semi-final against Algeria, yet finished third in the end.
