History of Khalifa International stadium
Khalifa International stadium was formally built in 1976. The stadium was constructed in 2005 before the Asian Games were planned in 2006. In 2005, a large arched roof was constructed on the eastern side of the stadium.
2 international matches were organized at Khalifa International stadium on 2009 November 14 between England and Brazil and on 2010 November 17 between Brazil and Argentina. The 17th World Athletics Championships was also organized in this stadium in 2019.
